Product expiry on growth factor technology

Lamelle is a well-known and established, proudly South African skincare brand that prides itself on research and innovation.

One of their first innovations brought to the local market has been their growth factor technology, found in many of their products. This technology assists with a range of skin concerns, including pigmentation, ageing, inflammation, and acne.

Expiry dates

Lamelle's growth factors are not typical skincare ingredients and can only be bottled for a limited time before their efficacy can no longer be guaranteed (i.e. beyond their expiry date). While it is wonderful to have access to these kinds of technologies in South Africa, they occasionally present challenges within the supply chain, and we may find ourselves with stock that does not always have the longest shelf life.

Close-to-expiry skincare is not more dangerous

Skincare brands like Lamelle conduct testing for stability and longevity (i.e. how long the product will last in the format delivered to the end customer). Using a product close to its expiry date does not pose a health risk. Expiry dates serve as a guide, and there is no 'off switch' that makes the product unsafe or completely ineffective the day after the expiry date. While we would never encourage the use of expired skincare products, if you accidentally use one beyond its expiry, there is no health risk.

Rules & regulations

In accordance with CPA (Consumer Protection Act) guidelines, we will retail a product with less than a 90-day shelf life.

In some cases, particularly with corrective products, daily use is recommended to gain the most benefit.

Lamelle growth factor products are intended for 60-90 days of consistent use to maximise their efficacy. Due to the nature of Lamelle's proprietary growth factor technology, product shelf life can be shorter than that of other creams and treatments you may be accustomed to (e.g. 12 months from opening). We cannot accept exchanges, returns, or credits for products with a shelf life of more than 90 days. Therefore, we advise purchasing your Lamelle products when you are ready to start using them.
